If you’re a high school or university student in Western Australia then listen up! Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe is looking for 6 students to join SXS Youth, a new initiative that will allow students to take an active part in Western Australia’s largest, free to the public, sculpture exhibition. It’s a great opportunity for students who aspire to work in the arts and want something great to add to their CV. Read on for more information.
Would you love to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what it is like to work at a major arts event? Well dream no more because Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe is offering just that. SXS Youth is a new initiative for high school students who have a committed interest in taking an active role in Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe, Western Australia’s largest free to the public, annual sculpture exhibition, which will run this year from 7th to the 24th of March.
The lucky 6 involved in SXS Youth will get to see what it is like to work for Sculpture by the Sea and will be involved in planning and delivery of a , My Perspective Tour: an event where students will present their responses to certain sculptures in the exhibition. Think of it as you being a well-informed tour guide who is allowed to be biased. In order to prepare to deliver the My Perspective Tour students will meet and interview exhibiting artists and research (with lots of support) artists and artworks in the exhibition. All group members will given information resources and provided with the chance to rehearse tours and practice presentation techniques.
It’s a great opportunity for anyone interested in the arts and anyone looking to learn how to improve their interpersonal skills. Students will be supported for the Sculpture by the Sea Education Manager and other staff and while this is not a paid position travel costs will be provided (with receipts of course).
