Victoria University

Victoria University

Introduction:
Victoria University (VU) is renowned for offering both higher education and TAFE qualifications. Victoria University’s main campus is located in the multicultural hub of Melbourne's western region whilst other campuses operate in Melbourne's city centre and globally, with many established exchange partners.

Currently, there are more than 51,000 students enrolled at Victoria University including both onshore and those on exchange and more than 5,400 staff. The growth of Victoria University as an education leader today is remarkable. Beginning in 1916, funds were gathered to open Footscray Technical School. In time, mergers with several other TAFE Colleges across the western region were made, to make VU the university that stands today.

Victoria University is one of only 5 universities in Australia offering pathway teaching from pre-tertiary and undergraduate degrees, right through to post-graduate qualifications including PhDs. A number of undergraduate disciplines are on offer at VU. These are divided into three faculties Arts, Education and Human Development, Business and Law and Health, Science and Engineering.

The experience at Victoria University extends beyond the academic side with numerous opportunities for students to get involved and meet people. The student life services on offer include VU Sport and Fitness facilities, student exchange with one of Victoria’s 60 sister universities and VU Clubs and Societies. The Student Union runs social nights such as boat cruises, as well as several other campus advertised events.
